About Vitalgas

Converting your existing vehicle to Autogas is very simple. It requires very few changes to the vehicle’s
equipment. An Autogas tank is installed within the boot or under the vehicle if there is enough clearance.
This tank is made of 3mm high grade carbon steel, whereas a petrol tank is made of plastic or thin sheet
metal. Other modifications for conversion typically include a converter/ regulator, an air/ fuel mixer,
an Autogas fuel control processor, a fuel lock off and a dual-fuel switch. Apart from the dual-fuel switch
which is located on the dash board, all other equipment is located beneath the bonnet or under the
vehicle. All Autogas systems are fitted in accordance with strict Federal and State Environmental
Protection Authority’s requirements.

A conversion typically costs approx. $3,000 and this cost is often recouped in the first year due to the
savings made through the significantly lower fuel costs. With the introduction of subsidies for
the conversion of private use vehicles to LPG, the cost of conversion becomes even more affordable.

An alternative to conversion is purchasing an LPG dedicated vehicle, specifically designed to perform
on Autogas only. This type of purchase can also be eligible for a government subsidy.
